Dear LPC members,
The dedication ceremony for Schmidt Heritage Park located at 15582 Ferris Street will take place Wednesday, June 28 at 11:00am by the flagpole. Everyone is welcome to attend.
After the ceremony the new pickleball courts will be open for play. On this opening day, we are asking everyone to share the courts by using the paddle racks and rotating “4 on 4 off”.
Grand Haven Township is committed to establishing an inclusive, welcoming, and community atmosphere at the SHP pickleball courts. These new courts are sure to attract players from far and wide and it is important to establish a procedure for sharing/using the courts during the drop-in times when the courts are most crowded.
The township has posted the following schedule for the Schmidt Heritage Park pickleball courts:
Monday thru Friday 8am-noon:
- 4 on 4 off using paddle racks:
- Courts 1-6 Intermediate level
- Courts 7 & 8 Beginner level
- Courts 9 & 10 Advanced level
- Courts 11 & 12 Open: first come first served
Monday thru Friday noon-6pm Open:
- All courts first come first served
Monday thru Friday 6-9pm:
- Courts 1-6 All levels 4 on 4 off. Use paddle racks.
- Courts 7-12 Open: first come first served
Saturday and Sunday 8am-9pm Open:
first come first served
Because of the generosity of Jim Schmidt, the vision of Grand Haven Charter Township, and the support of township residents, there are now 12 new pickleball courts at Schmidt Heritage Park. LPC acknowledges and appreciates the years of planning and effort that have resulted in this wonderful multi-use park that includes pickleball courts for the community.
