Ladder League

Ladder League (LL) Instructions:‬

‬‭ Courts: Use Courts #4, #5, and #6 at Mulligans Hollow. Be ready to play at your league‬‭ start time.‬‭ No warm ups after the start time!‬

Format:‬‭ LL will use a King/Queen of the Courts format. Each week players at the beginning of‬‭ the LL will be randomly assigned a court. When everyone is ready a signal will be given to start.

‬‭ Games will be played to 11 win by 2‬

“Two Done”:‬‭ When 2 games have been completed. Players announce “two done”. The third game‬‭ stops immediately when the‬‭ serving‬‭ team is ahead.‬‭ When the‬‭ serving‬‭ team is behind they are given an opportunity to serve (both players) until they are in the lead or until they lose their serve. If the‬‭ serving‬‭ team did not score enough points‬‭ to go ahead the receiving‬‭ team is‬‭ declared a winner.‬

‬‭ Partners Split: Once 3 games are done the Winners split and move up a court. Losers split and move‬‭ down a court.‬

‭ Ladder Captain:‬‭ We are asking one player from each‬‭ league to volunteer as Captain.‬‭ They will be in charge of getting the pickleballs out of and back into the shed. The‬‭ Captain will also be‬‭ The Keeper of the Cards‬‭ and roster.‬

‭ Beginning Court Assignments:‬‭ Before play begins players‬‭ will be asked to draw a‬‭ card from the 12 offered by the Captain. These 12 cards are in a 3 card sequence. After‬‭ the draw is complete players will find and group together with like cards by number and color. Example: For the first‬‭ game of the night, the 4 players holding‬‭ x’s‬‭ will play together.‬‭ The 4 players holding‬‭ y’s‬‭ will play‬‭ together. The 4 players holding‬‭ z’s‬‭ will play together. Your partner is the person who has the card with a matching color.  The lowest denomination of cards always start on‬‭ court #4, next highest cards in sequence match colors and move to court #5. Highest‬‭ cards in the sequence match colors and start on court #6.‬

‭ Substitutions‬‭ : Please contact someone from the sub‬‭ list if you know you will miss a‬‭ night of play. Let your Ladder Captain know which sub will be playing for you in case‬‭ they need to contact them. If no one from the sub list can fill in for you, you can arrange‬‭ for someone of similar skill level outside of the ladder to sub for you. It is‬‭ your‬‭ responsibilit‬‭y to find a sub so the ladder will always‬‭ have 12 players!‬

‬‭ Weather In case of rain/wet courts Captains will notify their group that play is canceled for that night. There will be no rain make ups
