First 2024-25 LPC Board Meeting

By August 26, 2024No Comments

Dear LPC Member,

The newly elected Board of Directors held their first meeting of the year last week and we wanted to share of few updates with you.

As the first order of business the position of Vice President of the Board had to be filled.  With no other candidates for the President position in the recent election, I ran to fill the President position that was open due to term limits.  That meant that I had to vacate the VP position with the start of the new board year.  Per the club bylaws the board fills any vacated position.  The board voted unanimously to name Chip Gilbertson to the role of VP of the Board for the remainder of the 2024/25 board year.  When you get a chance, please thank Chip for stepping up to this role and for his past role as Board Member at Large.

Please keep in mind that the Board follows all of the By Laws established when the LPC was formed.  These By Laws are available on our site for all members to review.  Also, if anyone wants minutes of any Board meeting you can request them through the website and they will be emailed out.

We recently had the cracks and damage to the courts fixed by an outside firm.  The repairs and repainting are starting to fade and are a little less obvious.  The Board continues to make repairs to courts and equipment with more work to be done.  Our Maintenance Committe would like to thank Sandi DeGroot for her repair to the wind screens back by the portable nets.  She used her nursing skills to expertly sew patches in the torn wind screens.  Please thank Sandi for her work and remember to be careful when putting away the portable nets so as not to do further damage.  Sandi’s work is a volunteer is greatly appreciated and we would like to invite any members who would like to help to please contact us, and we will find a place for you to help.  The LPC Club Classic is coming up on September 21 and 22 and can always use extra hands.

We have recently had some minor vandalism done at MH.  The memorial plaque was broken off its base and someone has tried to break into the shed more than once.  Please remember to put LPC equipment away and lock up shed after use.   We will be adding extra lock near top of door to stop them from prying the door open. As part of our concern about vandalism, we have put the AED inside the shed instead of in the unlocked box outside the shed. The AED sign is posted on the outside of the shed and the shed is open and available during drop-in play for access to AED.

The Board is looking forward to our 11th Annual LPC Classic Tournament next month and the second annual LPC Euchre Tournament coming this winter.  More social and club events will be announced as we get closer to the set dates.

As always, thank you all for your support of LPC and the pickleball community.  We look forward to hearing from you if you have any questions or input.

Best regards,

John Gabalis, LPC Board President
